Photovoltaic system is the technology transforming the sunlight into the electric energy directly

Solar cell is form of joining the two electrically different semiconductors, N(negative) type semiconductor and P(positive) type semiconductor. The boundary between two semiconductors is called PN-junction.

When the sunlight reach to this solar cell, the sunlight is absorbed into the solar cell. By the energy kept in this absorbed sunlight, it produces electric particle (the hole and electron) of the hole(+) and the electron(-) in the semiconductor. However, it becomes to produce the electric potential due to the each gathering, the electron(-) into the N type semiconductor, the hole(+) into the P type semiconductor. Because of this phenomenon, the electricity become flows when it is connected load, which is like electric bulb or motor, with the electrode made by attaching to the front side and the back side. This is the principle of photovoltaic system by the PN-junction of the solar cell
